Renovations and Renaming of Welile Mshweshwe Primary School in Amaoti
Sibaya Community Trust has been working in Amaoti since 2012 in Early Childhood Development projects and at the Home for the Elderly. The Trustees of the Sibaya Community Trust were pleased to make an infrastructure grant to the Amaoti Primary school to improve structures in the school.
Identified by the Mama Zandile Gumede Foundation, Mayor Zandile Gumede is a former student of the school and was present as the school was renamed “Welile Mshweshwe Primary School”
A partnership with financial support from Sibaya Community Trust, we unveiled a R650, 000
school renovation project where we have erected a new admin block and new ablution blocks for the school. The project included painting and some revamps of the ceilings, walls, windows etc. aimed at
improving the physical appearance and livelihood of the school.
This is a project we see fit to celebrate the life of Madiba who dedicated his presidency promoting primary education. Our Patron, the Mayor Zandile Gumede saw it fit to invest into this school through her Foundation. This is a school where Mama Zandile Gumede attended her primary education some 50 odd years ago.
Principal Mfeka and School Governing Body Head Mrs Khoza noted their thanks for the works undertaken at the school. Further Mr Vivian Reddy and Judge Vuka Tshabalala were present to announce that further renovations will be undertaked at the school taking the tota project value to over one million rands of funding.
